ACS shop tour with Cabinet Makers Association a big success

ACS was pleased to host 50 visitors during the August 21 Cabinet Makers Association (CMA) shop tour held in conjunction with the International Woodworkers Fair in Atlanta.

ACS was the first stop on the tour featuring three Atlanta companies. CMA members from across the country and Atlanta-area ACS friends and clients joined us.

We started the tour off by highlighting our state-of-the-art software, machinery, first-class material handling equipment and optimized shop layout. Along the way, we shared our knowledge of LEAN manufacturing, continuous improvement and our work cell approach to production.  One popular stop was our new edge bander, which offers us zero edge capability. We were proud of the positive feedback we received on the cleanliness and organization throughout the shop. Material handling and the overhead lifts for heavy panels were also discussed in depth.

“We’re so glad we could be part of the CMA tour,” says Don Clements, ACS’ owner. “It was great to meet so many of our woodworking peers and show them our operation. We learned from our conversations with our visitors, and we hope they learned something from us.”
